1. General Information
Nexus of Pathophysiology & Therapeutics (NPT) welcomes high-quality submissions that align with the journal’s mission of advancing mechanistic understanding and translational therapeutic research. All manuscripts must be original, not previously published, and not under consideration elsewhere.
Manuscripts should be written in clear, concise English and adhere to internationally recognized scientific, reporting, and ethical standards.
2. Article Types
The journal accepts the following manuscript categories:
- Original Research Articles
Studies providing mechanistic or causal insights into disease biology, therapeutic targets, or novel pharmacological interventions.
- Mechanistic and Translational Studies
Experimental, computational, preclinical, or clinical studies that explicitly address biological mechanisms and therapeutic pathways.
- Review Articles and Mechanistic Reviews
In-depth syntheses of current knowledge on molecular, cellular, and systems-level mechanisms of disease and therapy, emphasizing mechanistic interpretation rather than descriptive summaries.
- Short Communications and Brief Reports
Concise presentations of novel findings with clear mechanistic or biological relevance.
- Methodology and Experimental Frameworks
Innovative experimental approaches, methodological advances, or validated research frameworks relevant to mechanistic and translational science.
- Perspectives and Commentaries
Expert viewpoints on emerging concepts, mechanistic paradigms, therapeutic innovation, or scientific debates.
- Study Protocols
Registered protocols describing mechanistic hypotheses, study design, and analytical strategies prior to data collection, promoting transparency and reproducibility.
3. Manuscript Preparation
3.1 General Structure
Manuscripts should be organized as follows:
- Title page
- Abstract (structured for research articles)
- Keywords (3–6)
- Introduction
- Methods
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusion
- Mechanistic and Translational Relevance
- Acknowledgments (if applicable)
- Funding
- Conflicts of Interest
- References (Vancouver style)
Note: For certain article types, authors are encouraged to include a brief section describing the mechanistic or translational relevance of their findings.
3.2 Abstract
- Maximum 250–300 words.
- Original Research Articles: Structured abstract including Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusion, with a separate section highlighting Mechanistic and Translational Relevance.
- Mechanistic Studies and Reviews: Structured or unstructured abstracts summarizing key findings, emphasizing mechanistic insight and therapeutic implications.
3.3 Keywords
Provide 3–5 keywords, preferably using standardized medical subject terms (e.g., MeSH).
3.4 References
Follow Vancouver style. Authors are responsible for accuracy and completeness.
4. Reporting and Methodological Standards
Authors are strongly encouraged to follow recognized reporting guidelines:
- CONSORT (clinical trials)
- STROBE (observational studies)
- PRISMA (systematic reviews)
- ARRIVE (animal studies)
- TRIPOD (prediction models)
Studies should include:
- Clear mechanistic hypotheses
- Transparent experimental design
- Reproducible methodologies
- Appropriate statistical and computational analysis
5. Mechanistic and Translational Requirements
All submissions must:
- Provide biological or mechanistic interpretation of findings
- Go beyond descriptive analyses wherever possible
- Demonstrate relevance to disease pathophysiology or therapeutic mechanisms
- Clearly state translational implications
Descriptive studies may be considered if they provide strong mechanistic context and relevance.
6. Submission Process
All manuscripts must be submitted via the journal’s online submission system.
Authors will be guided through:
- Uploading manuscript files
- Entering metadata
- Providing ethical and disclosure statements
7. Ethical Requirements
Submissions must comply with the journal’s Publication Ethics policies.
Authors must ensure:
- Ethical approval for human or animal studies
- Informed consent where applicable
- Disclosure of conflicts of interest
- Transparency and integrity in data reporting
8. Peer Review
All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review.
Authors must anonymize their manuscripts before submission.
Review criteria include:
- Mechanistic rigor
- Scientific validity
- Translational relevance
- Novelty and conceptual contribution
9. Data Availability
A Data Availability Statement is required. Authors are encouraged to:
- Share datasets in publicly accessible repositories
- Provide code and analytical workflows where applicable
